Xiaomi 13 series launch confirmed for December 1: What we know about it
Xiaomi has officially announced its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 13, confirming that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The highly anticipated high-end device is scheduled to make its debut on December 1 in China. Xiaomi has provided glimpses of the smartphone’s features through teasers released ahead of the launch.
The Xiaomi 13 launch on December 1 will not be limited to just the smartphone, as Xiaomi has also confirmed the unveiling of MIUI 14, based on Android 13 OS, on the same day. This suggests that the Xiaomi 13 is likely to come pre-installed with MIUI 14.
The Xiaomi 13 is expected to be a flagship smartphone boasting Qualcomm’s next-gen processor. Teasers and the official launch invite indicate that the device will incorporate a Leica-powered camera setup, offering a premium design featuring a metal frame and a glass sandwich design. Similar to other flagship models, the Xiaomi 13 will possess an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Highlighted features of the Xiaomi 13 include a display with an impressive 93.3% screen-to-body ratio, characterized by ultra-thin bezels. The smartphone will adopt a flat display with a punch-hole cutout at the top center, and an in-display fingerprint sensor is also anticipated.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 13 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with a minimum of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Leaks suggest that the smartphone will boast a triple camera setup at the rear, featuring a dedicated ultra-wide angle and a telephoto lens.
In addition to the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi is set to introduce other products on December 1 in China, including the Xiaomi Buds 4 and the Xiaomi Watch S2. While there is currently no confirmation about the Xiaomi 13’s launch in India, considering the timeline, it is likely that the brand will introduce the Xiaomi 13 in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2023.
